Is there anything different about buying a house that was featured in a movie?

“I’ll make him an offer he can’t refuse”. Sometimes, all it takes is one line and people can guess what movie it came from. This easily recognizable quote is from the iconic movie “The Godfather”. It’s part of a conversation between actors Marlon Brando, as Vito Corleone, and Al Pacino as his son, Michael Corleone.

But do you know how this movie—and this line—is connected to Staten Island real estate?

Now, fans of “The Godfather” movies have a chance to make an offer that can’t be refused to the real-life couple who have been living in one of the movie compound’s houses for the past 40 years. Yes, Michael Corleone’s home in the 1972 film “The Godfather” could be yours if you are in the market to buy a house on Staten Island

Buying a home on Staten Island with such a unique history is an exciting proposition. The current owners have lived and raised their children there happily for over 40 years and much of the outside reportedly looks unchanged from the scenes included in the film--with the possible exception of the grizzly screen death of a character named Rizzi in a car in the front of the home.

Notoriety aside, the house sale would be expected to proceed just as any other residential real estate purchase on Staten Island. Of course, the purchase price could potentially be more inflated because of the interesting history and connection to the film. So, the deal would proceed from offer and acceptance, through contract signing, inspections, title, survey and financing (if any), and then the closing.
